Gah. I Do Not Feel Inspired To Produce A Title

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 8, 2008, 7:31 PM
Dear God, it's been ages since I've updated my poor little journal. So, as an utter cop-out from saying anything useful, I shall simply pilfer this little quizy thing from *Sakanoue, who also comandeered it from pre-existing sources. (Yay! Let the chain of theivery never break!) Though, first:

Does anyone have the slightest idea why my subscription magically increased by 3 months? I received no email of donation, it just sort of happened the other day. And I'm not the only one - *Bekkia and others have had a similar experience. Though I'm not sure if the incidences are related.

Anyhow, this struck me as an entertaining little activity:

:iconleoniesaintevire:
An amazing writer with a multitude of terribly intriguing characters up her sleeves. Here there be queens, pirates, vampires, true love, and exquisite writing. What more can one ask for?

:iconczarewich:
A very brilliant poet and prose writer, who writes with such sincere appreciation for the craft I cannot help but admire his work. Please, indulge.

I suppose that's all for now. Oh - and I have joined the 100 Themes Challenge, so I'll be driving myself mad with that over the next few months. Masochism appears to be my idea of fun.

Cheers!

I've Dropped Me Brain!

Journal Entry: Fri May 16, 2008, 7:27 PM
First off, I want to apologize to those I'm watching; I know I haven't checked your deviations in nearly a week, but it was FINALS, dang it, and I was tired and stressed. But trust me, I shall get to them...probably tomorrow, though, since I still have to reorganize my room back at home, now that I've moved out of the dorms for summer. But please don't feel abandoned - I'm still watching you, me pretties! (Wow, I think that last Intro. to Logic test did something screwy to my head...)

Anyhow, my subscription showed up the other day, and I found, happily, that it turned out to be six months rather than three. (Thank you, benevolent :iconmoonbeam13: I worship at your administrative feet! :worship:) And of course, that posed the perfect opportunity to screw around with CSS and those delightful little Meez. So now I have my own mad little virtual Tess slashing away at a violin (dear Louis, my wooden sweet from New Orleans) and a niftier journal, assuming I don't screw up the copy/past function.

And I've also decided to start featuring people, since it only seems fair. :)

So, for the first two features, we have:

:iconkitit21:
This Australian darling was my third watcher (and considering the first two were my boyfriend and a friend, she was my first real watcher). She was also the first person to feature me, and she has always been wonderfully supportive. Plus her poems are delightful. Indulge:

:iconbladedspear:
BladedSpear dwells in Singapore and writes novels...and then actually publishes them, which is certainy more than I can say for myself. (Indeed, Sojourn went up for sale on Amazon about a month ago. Much awesomeness.) In addition, this fellow has been kind enough to write a piece around my own dear demented demon, Twirrel, whom you will find various drawings of throughout my gallery. Please do check it out. 'Tis marvelous.

And I suppose that's all for news. Well, that and the fact my boyfriend now had neon blue hair. Which , I must admit, it is an interesting development. Now an absurd number of people have been hypothesizing that
a) He lost a bet.
b) He took a dare.
c) He's on drugs.
None of which are true. Mainly, he was bored.

Cheers!

April Happiness!

Journal Entry: Sun May 4, 2008, 1:35 PM
I love my T. S. Eliot, but he was wrong about at least one matter: April is by no means the cruelest month. I've been having such a lovely time these last thirty days that I thought I might as well compile my successes. (Please don't think of this as bragging. I'm just so absurdly exhilarated I can hardly stay quiet, and barely any of my friends at college understand the significance of an award on DA.)

So here 'tis, in chronological order:

1st place in :iconwrittenwordaddiction:'s April Fool's Contest with "The Fool" [link]

Honorable Mention in :iconlovetodeviate:'s Poetry Responses Contest for NaPoWriMo with "The Man Who Laughs" [link]

1st place in :iconlovetodeviate:'s Walking in April Contest for NaPoWriMo with "Contemplations" [link] (Which means I now have a three month subscription. Yay!)

Featured Daily Deviant in the Literature category on April 29, 2008

Daily Deviation for "Contemplations" on May 2, 2008 (OK, technically May and not April, but very close)

And I actually finished all thirty Grimmlings, so now I just have to edit my favorite five to ten for submission to the Mini-Chapbook Contest.

Happy Dance Time!

Taggeded

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 27, 2008, 2:09 AM
I was recently tagged by :iconnightvagabond:, so, in the spirit of being obliging, this journal will be devoted to sharing random-ass information about myself with you, my darling watchers, and any other poor souls who happen to wander past my page.

~RULES~
1. Post these rules.
2. Write 8 random facts of thyself.
3. Post these things in a Journal/Blog.
4. In the end, tag and name 8 more people.
5. Go to their DA pages and comment saying that they are tagged.

1. Throughout junior high and high school, whenever someone asked what I wanted to do for a living, I would answer that I wished to become a starving artist/heroin-addict living in the back alleys of New York. Even teachers knew about my aspirations. Fortunately, they understood that I was joking. (In all truth, I do hope to become a clinical psychologist/novelist/illustrator when I finally finish with my next eight years of schooling or so.)

2. One of my favorite movies when I was about five was The Terminator. No lie. I was also a huge fan of the Rambo series. I suspect I was a rather messed up little child.

3. I have read more books, both famous and obscure, than any English teacher I have ever had, including college professors. I have also been used as an answer key by my English teachers (yes, including the college professors).

4. I am currently and permanently infatuated with :iconneomalith: - but don't bother looking at his page, because he doesn't really contribute to DA. He just watches an absurd number of you amazing people. He is also the only person I've ever met who is smart enough to get A's in college-sophomore-level physics and calculus in high school without doing a drop of homework, yet dumb enough to ask what Hitler's last name was.

5. I almost had a prize fight with one of my friends my senior year of high school, but he chickened out after he discovered that all our dear acquaintances were betting on me. As is, we just hit each other a lot in our spare time for no real reason. And I suppose I stabbed him a few times, too, since he said it "kept him on his toes"... Yay, violence! And this was before I had ever even heard of Fight Club.

6. My personal theme song, as selected by various members of the Honors College at BSU, is "Poison" by Alice Cooper. Entertainingly enough, the official music video was posted on YouTube on my birthday and was first released the year I was born.

7. My first reaction to pain is hysterical laughter. This can spur some odd responses from those who don't know me, and occasional panic from those who do. (One of my friends was particularly worried when I whacked my head on the ceiling while jumping along couches and didn't stop laughing for about five minutes, not due to pain, for once, but because I found the whole situation insanely funny. I have a really twisted sense of humor.)

8. I have been playing the violin since I was ten and have received one standing ovation from an audience of several hundred after a Vivaldi solo. I treasure this moment with my life. (I have also dabbled in guitar and rudimentary piano, and I can sing you anything you like from Evanescence to Verdi.)

(Wow. Just proofread this. Dang, I sound conceited...)

Anyhow, I now tag: :iconthe-queen-bee::iconander-kun::iconwarrenisinsane::iconpickledweasel::iconackbo::iconneomalith::iconkitit21::iconalmalobana:

Grimmlings

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 17, 2008, 8:01 PM
Dear God, what have I done?

Allow me to explain.

Yesterday, during the middle of my Research Methods course at university, I began to scribble some gibberish pertaining to Snow White and the Garden of Eden. Which led to a "brilliant" idea: what if I retold a handful of my favorite fairy tales as short, descriptive snippets embodying the soul of each story? I love fairy tales (most psychology majors do), and thus managed to pop off nine of the little buggers in a matter of hours. Narcissistically impressed by my own productivity, I was then pummelled by an even more "brilliant" idea loitering at the edges of my (num)skull: what if I signed up for :iconlovetodeviate:'s poem-a-day endeavor, and then entered the Chapbook Contest (of which the former is a prerequisite), possibly winning fame and fortune! (AKA, minor online publication and a few DeviantDollars.) By Jove, I shall! (Said I to meself.)

I suspect I would trade my soul for a couple of virtual greenbacks.

If I haven't already.

(Cheers to the mercenary! For they are my brethren.)

So here 'tis. My first burgeoning poetry collection. A passle of unpolished crap.
